Junior Kabananga pounced on goalkeeping error to give DR. Congo a 1-0 win over Morocco managed by two time AFCON winner, Herve Renard.
The Khazastan based midfielder profited from a mistake by Munir Mohamedi in the Morocco goal to score from close range 10 minutes into the second half which ended up being the match winner.
Success came two days after the Central Africans refused to train over bonuses row and a red card coupled with an injury meant they were briefly reduced to nine men in the closing stages of what was a keenly contested match.
Defeat was a major blow for the French-born Moroccan coach Herve Renard who has set a last-eight place as his minimum target and cant afford not to qualify from the group. They have Togo and Cote D’Ivoire to play.
