Man U leads Deloitte Money League as Real Madrid fall behind Barca

There’s more bad news for Florentino Perez and Real Madrid. The annual study undertaken by Deloitte on the revenue of football clubs reveals that they are no longer the game’s richest club, in terms of revenue at least.

Madrid’s side have not just been kicked off top spot, but they’re now down in third place. Manchester United, with 689 million euros, lead the list of the world’s biggest clubs.

Barcelona are second with 620.2 million euros in revenue, with Madrid third, slightly behind with 620.1 million euros in revenue. Barça’s revenue increase of 10.6 percent has seen them leapfrog their La Liga rivals, who only saw revenue grow by 7.5 percent.

The qualitative leap between Barça and Real Madrid has arrived via advertising, sponsorships and merchandising, where Barça have brought in 296.1 million euros compared to the 263.4 million brought in by Real Madrid.

In any case, both Spanish case are a long way from the figure presented by Manchester United, who attribute 363.8 million of their revenue to advertising, sponsorships and merchandising.
