Alou Cisse’s Senegal booked a place in the knockout round with a 2-0 win over Zimbabwe who ended up with a draw in their first game.
Senegal came into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Tunisia on Sunday and built upon that to finish the Zimbabweans in just less than 15mins of play.
The Zimbabweans were undone by the brillance of the Balde Keita who ply his trade abroad for Lazio in the Italian Serie A.
Senegal took the lead in the 10th minute through Liverpool winger and most expensive African player, Saido Mane after a cross from Keita fell to him to slot home.
The brilliance of Keita didn’t stop there as he was fouled close to the box which was expertly dispatched by Saint Etienne’s Henri Saivet to give the Teranga Lions a 2-0 lead with less than 15mins played.
Chances came begging on both ends especially Senegal but there was no goal to show for.
Senegal with this win leads the Group with 6 points with Tunisia winning over Algeria sending them to second with 3 points. Algeria and Zimbabwe follows with a point each.
Senegal then becomes the first team to reach the next round and are yet to concede after two games.
Group B teams are in action again on Monday as Senegal host Algeria and Zimbabwe plays Tunisia.
Who will then join Senegal to progress from Group B.
