Australian Open Men’s Division: Rodger Federer claims 18th Grand Slams title in five sets

The most decorated Grand Slam winner in the Men’s division, Rodger Federer beat his long time rival, Rafael Nadal in five sets at Rod Laver Arena in Australia.

The two legends has 31 Grand Slam titles between them with Rodger Federer winning 17 of them.

The 2017 Australian Open that saw World Number One, Andy Murray and World Number Two, Novak Djokovic exit at the early stages did not disappointed as the two most decorated tennis legends lock horns in the final.

Nadal led the head to head between both sides with 23-11 going into the final and has won 6-2 in Majors but it was the Swiss who gave an indication that he wanted to win his 18th Grand Slam title.

Nadal started well but it was Federer who won the first set 6-4. Nadal came in stronger in the second and won the set 6-3. Federer took the third with a 6-1 win before Nadal won the fourth set 6-3.

Then came the deciding set (the fifth and final set) between the two rivals. Nadal took a 3-1 lead only for a remarkable comeback from Federer saw the greatest male tennis player on earth won the set 6-3.

Federer now has an incredible 18 Grand Slam title after beating Nadal 6-4 3-6 6-1 3-6 6-3 at the Rod Laver Arena.

The five set win goes to confirm that no male tennis player have more career five set wins than Rodger Federer (27 played, 21 won).
