Fatau Dauda has explained that he prayed and read from the Quran during Ghana’s 2-1 win over DR Congo on Sunday.
The Black Stars defeated the Leopards 2-1 in Oyem to advance into the semifinals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, where they will battle Cameroon on Thursday.
Before each of Ghana’s goals – scored by Jordan and Andre Ayew – Dauda went to the changeroom to pray and read the Quran.
“Yes, you know I am a prayerful person,” the ‘keeper told Ghanaian journalist Gariba Raubil, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.
“I pray a lot. So when the game was difficult for us I went to the dressing room to perform ablution and then read the Quran.
“And Allah made things easier for us. That is what I went to the dressing room to do.”
