Chelsea continued their quest for the PL title come May with a 3-1 win over Swansea City at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues came into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Burnley in their last league game and was on the front foot in the early minutes but nothing to show up for their dominance until the 19th minute when a link up play between Fabregas, Hazard and Pedro saw the latter scoring in a difficult angle to give Chelsea the lead. Cesc Fabregas goal came from an assist of Pedro Rodriguez who timed the run of the former Barcelona teammate to give the Stamford Bridge faithfuls the lead they were all waiting for.
Chelsea pressed for a second but it was the Welsh side who out from nowhere got the equaliser thanks to an inswinging cross from a freekick from Icelandic, Gylfi Sigurdsson which was headed in by Spaniard Fernando Llorente to hand Swansea City the equaliser in what was arguably the last kick of the first half.
Antonio Conte men came in looking for the second but it was the Welsh club who nearly got a penalty as a Gylfi Sigurdsson lob was adjudged to have been blocked with the hand by Azplicueta but referee Neil Swabrick waved play on and in the 72nd minute, a pass from Fabregas to Pedro saw Pedro curled a low cross which goalkeeper, Lukask Fabianksi in post for Swansea failed to deal with it ensuring Chelsea retook the lead.
Second became third as substitute Nemanja Matic robbed Wayne Routledge of the ball, send a pass to starman, Eden Hazard before the Belgian did his tricky skills and sent a delicious pass to striker, Diego Costa who applied a finishing touch with aplomb to give Chelsea a 3-1 lead.
The game ended 3-1 but it was Chelsea who could have scored the fourth as Fabregas hit the upright with a curled shot before N’Golo Kante missed from the edge of the box after Matic found him in space.
Chelsea with the win extended their lead at the top of the PL table to 11 points with 12 matches to play.
The win also ensures manager, Antonio Conte becomes the first manager in the Premier League history to win 20 games in his first 26 PL games.
