Yakubu Mohammed’s Kezmanic header hands Kotoko maximum points at Len Clay

Kumasi Asante Kotoko quest for Ghana Premier League trophy continued at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium today as they beat their local rivals, AshantiGold 1-0 thanks to a Kezmanic header from striker Yakubu Mohammed.

The Porcupine Warriors were sharing the spoils at 1-1 after the first half yesterday before a torrid rainfall called for the game to be postponed to today because the pitch was unfavourable for football.

The match was rescheduled to today as the rules demand and was 0-0 at halftime with both sides throwing missiles at each other in search of the win.

Yakubu Mohammed, a former Miner scored yesterday and did same today in a Kezmanic manner as he headed home in the 63rd minute to give the Porcupines the lead at Obuasi.

AshantiGold pushed for the equaliser but it was the Porcupine Warriors who nearly netted a second through Yakubu Mohammed but the post came to rescue the Miners.

The goal scored by Mohammed proved to be the matchwinner as Kotoko moved level on points with league leaders, Aduana Stars on 10 points after four round of games in the GPL.

The win also means Kumasi Asante Kotoko beats Ashgold at the Len Clay Stadium for the first time since 2010/2011 season.

Kotoko will host new entrants Elmina Sharks in their next league outing at their favourite Baba Yara stadium.
