Wa All stars head coach, Enos Adepa has retraited that Wa All Stars deserved at least a draw when they played Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports stadium.
Hearts of Oak won 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Thomas Abbey after Richard Arthur had cancelled out Alexander Kouassi’s excellent strike in the first half for Hearts of Oak.
The game started with Hearts of Oak dictating pace and got the lead they deserved through Alexander Kouassi as he volleyed into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Hearts of Oak pushed for a second but excellent goalkeeping and wastage of chances denied the Phobians another goal. Wa All Stars grabbed the equaliser late in the second half through Richard Arthur before Thomas Abbey headed home what turned out to be the match winner after full time.
Despite Hearts of Oak winning, Wa All Stars head coach, Enos Adepa had different view and claims, they should have had at least a draw from the game.
He said “It was a nice game for both sides”. We knew it was going to be a tough game for us, because we have been a thorn in their flesh in our last meetings and also having played three matches, without a victory they were under pressure to win today”.
“But I think it was not a fair result for us, we did not deserve to lose today, we came all out to bury them in the second half, because after scouting on them, I realised after 70 minutes they were going to get tired and it that was obvious”. “A defensive blunder cost us in this game, they took advantage of our mistakes and punished us, so credit to them for the victory”.
“This is a different team as compared to last season’s, five young players were in the squad today and they are now gelling. We have our own problems in terms of much fitness”. “Some of our players have not played in the GPL. Some also joined us from division two sides and it will take time for them to be at the level we want”.
“Hearts of oak have played three matches in the league already and this was our first game, our opponents have had the feel of it and were mentally ready for the game”. “This defeat will help us put our edges together, the mechanism will start working well after our next two or three games. We are in to defend our title and we must get things right as earlier we can”.
Wa All Stars will host Elmina Sharks on Wednesday at the Wa Park to clear one of the outstanding games due to their participation in the CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
