Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze is ruled out indefinitely, for a curious reason.
This was explained to SID agency Hans-Joachim Watzke , President ofDortmund . The German club announced on Monday that tests on 24-year-old Götze , in the face of repeated muscle injuries and poor form, determined he suffered a metabolic disorder that forced him to stop training.
“He [Gotze] has continually suffered with muscular problems in the past few months, prompting a comprehensive internal investigation into the possible causes,” said a club statement.
“Those investigations revealed the player has metabolic disturbances, rendering it absolutely necessary to withdraw him from team training for the time being.”
The 24-year-old Germany star says he will do “everything in my power to be back in training”.
Michael Zorc , sports director of Dortmund , said: “We are pleased to know the reasons for Mario (Götze) problems,” problems that prevent him from performing at his usual level. But the club recognizes that there will be a quick comeback for the player, who has only played 24 minutes since the beginning of the year.
