Bashir Hayford elated despite derby loss

Kotoko beats Ashgold 1-0 in the Ashanti derby

AshantiGold head coach, Bashir hayford insists he is happy despite losing to Kotoko in the matchday 4 of the Ghana Premier League.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat the Miners 1-0 thanks to a thumping header from former player, Yakubu Mohammed to move joint top with Aduana Stars on the GPL table. Bashir Hayford has been criticised strongly of late when Ashgold was battling relegation last season and even opted to stop coaching after the end of the season but the former Kotoko coach claims he is elated and confident in his team as they seeks to do well this season.

He was quoted as saying; “I’m even more elated”. “I’m very happy with a young team like this playing this way because I have confidence that after about five or six matches, it will be very for you to beat”. “Only three players of the old team last season featured in this encounter”. If you could recall, I brought the final list of players registered for the season just two weeks ago before the start of the league”.

“So we prepared for only two weeks for the season”. “I’m really happy that a new team is playing like this”.

Ashgold will travel to Berekum on Sunday to take on Berekum Chelsea in the fifth week of the Ghana Premier League.
