World Number One, Serena Williams has pulled out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells with a knee injury.
The American also said he will also miss the Miami Open later this month.
Serena, 35, and record holder of 23 Grand Slam Title in the Open era said; “I have not been able to train due to my knees,” adding that she would return “as soon as I can”.
The organisers of the tournament has said a revised draw would be issued later.
Her inability to participate means Germany’s Angelique Kerber can replace her as world number one.
