Manchester United’s manager, Jose Mourinho claims Paul Pogba critics are ‘envy’ of the French’s wages.
Paul Pogba was re-signed to Manchester United from Juventus in a world record fee of £89m. Juventus acquired Pogba on a free transfer in 2012 paying £1.5m as compensation fee to the Red devils.
Pogba’s performances has come under serious criticisms with the latest coming on Monday in Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the Emirates FA Cup.
Mourinho came to the defence of his midfielder saying;
“It is not his fault that some pundits are in real trouble while Paul is a multi-millionaire,” Mourinho said.
“I feel that the world is losing values and I am scared about the level of envy coming in. It is not Paul’s fault that he gets 10 times the money some players did in the past,” the Portuguese added.
“Paul reached the top and nobody gave him anything. I am really worried about the way things are going with previous generations. Envy is everywhere.”
Paul Pogba has had a hand in 12 goals for Manchester United, scoring seven and providing five assists in 40 matches this season.
The midfielder was outshone by N’Golo Kante on Monday but Jose Mourinho in his pre match conference ahead of their Europa League second leg tie with Rostov said he was “very happy” with his performances.
Mourinho added; “The best thing is that because of his personality he doesn’t give an ass to what people say about him.”
