Rafael Nadal booked his place in the last four with a a 6-2 6-3 win over American Jack Sock.
The Spanish eased past the American in less than an hour to reach the last four of the Miami Open.
This is his third semi final in 2017 having reached the semis at the Australian Open and in the Indian Wells.
He will now face Fabio Fognini of Italy after the unseeded player became the first player in a decade to reach the semis.
Fognini, 29, defeated Japanese Kei Nishikori in one of the talking points at the 2017 Miami Open to reach the last four.
Fabio Fognini saw off Nishikori 6-4 6-2 to add to his tally of beating the top seeds in this year’s competition after beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Feliciano Lopez to reach the last eight.
The Men’s double saw favourites Britain’s Jamie Murray and Brazilian Bruno Soares exit as they were beaten 2-6 6-3 10-8 by Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo.
Jamie and Bruno were tipped to make it treble in 2017 after winning the Australian Open and Indian Wells but were left disappointed as they bowed out of the Miami Open at the quarter final stage.
