FABIO CAPELLO THINKS BARCELONA IS STRUGGLING TO REPLACE XAVI

Fabio Capello has hit out at Barcelona’s recruitment strategy since Xavi Hernandez left. The former Italy manager spoke to Corriere Dello Sport and said that Real Madrid have known how to strike for better players in recent years.

“The problem Luis Enrique’s team is having is in the middle of the pitch. They have a stupendous attack, but in the middle, where Xavi was never replaced like he should have been and Iniesta is injured a bit, something’s lacking. Madrid have made top level signings and above all, the right choices, while Barcelona have not done what they should have.”

On the UCL clash between Barcelona and Juventus he added: “I expect 180 very even minutes and if you asked me for the chances of each team going through, I’d say 50-50.”

On the MSN he said: “The three forwards are formidable because of their quality and creativity, but above all because they make a perfect cocktail. Suarez is the 9 Barcelona have been looking for for years, Neymar has grown a lot and Messi is always the same phenomenon. It’s a trident that is really terrifying.”
