FEDERER TO REST TILL ROLAND GARROS/FRENCH OPEN

Swiss and 18 Grand Slam Champion, Rodger Federer has indicated that he wants to take a rest and return stronger in the Roland Garros/French Open in May.

The 35 year old defeated Rafael Nadal in straight sets to win his third title in 2017.

The win in Miami meant he won his third Miami title and his third win in 2017 over Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Federer beat Nadal in the final to win the Aussie Open and also eliminated Nadal to reach the finals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Federer who needed to sit out of the second half of 2016 to recover from a knee injury says;

“When I am healthy and feeling good, I can produce tennis like this.” “When I am not feeling this good there is no chance I will be in the finals competing with Rafa.”

“That is why this break is coming in the clay-court season, focusing everything on the French, the grass and then the hard courts after that.

“I’m not 24 any more so things have changed in a big way and I probably won’t play any clay-court event except the French.”

Federer has won 19 out of 20 games played in 2017.
