Zanaco manager Mumamba Numba has explained that his team is targeting a draw at the very least in their CAF Champions League group stage opener away to Al Ahly this weekend.
The pair will meet in Alexandria on Saturday evening for their Group D opener. The other teams in the pool are Wydad Casablanca and Coton Sport, who will clash in Morocco on Sunday evening.
“Our target is to at least get a draw since we are playing away, but this does not mean that we are going to sit back and defend. We will go out and push for goals and try to win the match,” Numba said in an interview, as quoted by KingFut.
“We are facing an experienced side in Al Ahly; they are a good side but we’re ready for this mission. We will be very happy if we can come back from Egypt with something to show for our efforts.”
Numba’s side defeated Nakambala Leopards in domestic action in their most recent outing, giving them confidence ahead of their trip to Egypt.
“This victory against Nakambala Leopards is a morale-booster. It is important to have confidence when you are travelling for CAF games,” the Zanaco coach concluded.
