Guinea Under-17 head coach Souleymane Camara was happy to see his charges end their 2017 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals campaign on a winning note.
The Junior National Elephants beat Niger U17 3-1 in the third-place play-off match at the Stade I’Amitie in Libreville, Gabon on Sunday and they clinched bronze medals.
“It is better to get something than nothing,” Camara told CAF Media.
“Of course, there is a small regret that we couldn’t get to the final match but we are on the podium which is the most important thing for today.
“For the future, all of us that have qualified for the World Cup must now go back home and prepare to represent Africa well in India,” he added.
“We changed our tactics against Niger and at some point, we were playing with four attackers and I’m happy it paid off with this important victory despite the fact that I’m the youngest coach here.
“We would see more players who can bring more positives to the team ahead of the World Cup.”
