Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has lost his father Alhaji Muniru, family sources have confirmed to Ghanamansports.com.
Alhaji Muniru died Monday at 62 years. He is expected to be buried on Tuesday at Tafo in accordance with Islamic rites.
The man known as Alhaji Muniru Muntari, has been battling illness for some time now and a family friend confirmed the news.
He passed on at the 37 military hospital on Monday after he was rushed there following excessive pain.
He coached Kano Pillars, Okwahu United and El-Kanemi Warriors during his active days.
Muntari happens to be his first son and one of the most decorated Ghanaian footballers having won trophies with Inter Milan and AC Milan.
His youngest son Muniru junior is also with Romanian side Steau Bucuresti.
