Ghana Skipper, Asamoah Gyan has reiterated that he does consult Mallams and spiritual people every now and then in his playing career.
The Ghanaian international who recently scored a half century of goals in his 102 caps for his country said he isn’t afraid consulting Mallams and pastors when going to play football games.
He made this known when he was hosted by Television and Radio personality, Deloris Frimpong Manso on her show dubbed ‘The Delay Show’ last Saturday.
Gyan lamented that the public has “demonized” the use of ‘Mallams’ in sports. He continued that football is a ‘spiritual work’.
Gyan further indicated that ‘Mallams’ are like pastors.
The 33 year old continued; “‘Mallams’ are just like pastors but in the Islamic religion and as such there was nothing wrong with consulting them to pray for an individual”
“You can’t just rise up and say you’re going to play football because it is a spiritual exercise. You will need spiritual fortitude before you get into play and it’s not just for football but every other work”.
When quizzed if he has a spiritual father that do pray for him before he goes to play games, Gyan was quick to say ‘Yes’.
” I have a spiritual father who fortifies and prays for me before I set off to play a football game”.
