GHANA’S NATIONAL BADMINTON TEAM QUALIFY FOR 2018 COMMON WEALTH GAMES

Ghana’s national Badminton team took a giant step of qualifying to the 2018 common wealth game in Australia by winning gold,bronze and Silva in the men’s doubles , men’s singles of the Africa U 19 Badminton championship in Ivory coast.

Top seed Abraham Ayittey brushed aside Mohammed Kamel of Egypt 21-17, 21-17 to win gold. Daniel Doe and Ebenezer Andrews fought back from a game down to win gold in a 2-1 of three sets against Abraham Ayittey and Emmanuel Botwe in an all Ghanaian doubles finals. Grace Attipaka and Eyram Migdodzi failed to win Ghana’s third gold as they were beaten by Halla Bouksani and Linda Mazri of Algeria in the womens doubles finals.

Abraham Ayittey received all the applauds against his Eygptian counterpart as he showed some brilliant skills to out class his challenger in the men’s singles finals. Out of the six countries which participated in the six nations championship, host ivory coast and Benin failed to win a single medal in the all juniors tournament Head coach of Ghanas team Jacob Evans Wilson could not hide his joy at the performance of the team.
