CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE- ESPERANCE LOOK OUT TO QUALIFY FOR THE KNOCKOUT STAGE

Espérance Sportive de Tunis will be aiming to book their place in the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League with victory over AS Vita at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa on Saturday.

Kick-off in the Democratic Republic of Congo capital is set for 17h00 CAT.

The Tunisian giants currently occupy top spot in Group C after four rounds of fixtures, having accumulated eight points from four games.

Two wins and two draws leaves the Blood & Gold three points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns and Saint George heading into the weekend, with AS Vita bottom of the table on three points.

The 1994 and 2011 champions got their campaign off to the perfect start, hammering AS Vita 3-1 in the reverse fixture. A goalless draw in Addis Ababa was followed by a 2-1 win at defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pitso Mosimane’s troops, though, upped their game to hold Esperance to a 0-0 draw in Rades last time out.

In stark contrast, Les Dauphins Noirs suffered defeat in three successive fixtures before beating Saint George in Kinshasa last time out. Tady Etekiama with a brace for the 1973 champions.

As a result, this weekend’s clash is of utmost importance for Florent Ibenge’s troops who need victory if they are to keep their hopes of reaching the next round alive.

Four wins in succession in all competitions, though, will give DR Congo hope as they aim to throw the cat among the pigeons.
