Chelsea Football Club has today announced that they have secured the services of 16 year old Welsh, Ethan Ampadu.
Ethan, 16, is a midfielder who played for League Two side, Exeter City making 16 appearances last term. He had trials with Liverpool and Manchester United but has opted to sign for Chelsea after failing to sign a scholarship deal with Exeter City. Due to this, Chelsea will pay Exeter City a compensation fee to be agreed by both parties.
Ethan Ampadu, who has a Ghanaian decent, has his father being the coach of Arsenal U18 squad that finished second in the U18 league at the end of the 2016/2017 season.
Exeter website read after announcing that Ampadu ha joined Chelsea;
“Everyone at Exeter City fully supports Ethan’s decision to sign for Chelsea”.
Paul Tisdale, manager of Exeter City FC added that;
“He had many options available to him and has decided that Chelsea provides him with the best opportunity to
develop the next step of his career”.
“We wish him the
very best of luck”.
He continued; “Ethan is another in a long line of home grown players
to graduate through our academy into our first team”.
“At Exeter City FC we will continue to support our youth system by encouraging and promoting our
young players into competitive senior football when
they are ready”, he lamented.
Ethan is the first of many signings to come this season for the Premier League Champions.
