UEFA Europa League finalists, Ajax Amsterdam midfielder, Abdelhak Nouri collapsed in a club friendly with German side, Werder Bremen and was taken to the hospital by a helicopter.
Ajax was scheduled to play Werder Bremen in a friendly to prepare their teams for the upcoming season and Nouri who played nine league games for the Dutch side last season collapsed during the second half of the friendly game in Austria.
The 20 year old Dutch international was taken to the hospital by an helicopter as his club tweeted;
“A trauma helicopter landed on the field.”
“There was talk of heart rhythm disorders. He is stable.”
When the incident happened, the former Chelsea and Dutch captain Ruud Gullit posted on social media “#abdelhaknouri we pray for you.”
Ajax Amsterdam has a feeder club in South Africa called the Ajax Cape Town who ply in the South African top flight and they quickly sent a twitter message to their parent club offering support to Nouri;
“We would like to wish speedy recovery to Abdelhak Nouri from @AFCAjax who collapsed in a friendly game”.
Nouri was part of the squad that played Manchester United at the Europa League final in Stockholm though he played no part in the 2-0 loss to the Red devils.
