COSAFA CUP: ZIMBABWE ARE CHAMPIONS AFTER BEATING ZAMBIA 3-1

The 2017 COSAFA Cup has been won by Zimbabwe after the South African nation beat their rivals Zambia 3-1 in the final.

COSAFA Cup is a tournament organised by countries in the South Africa subregion.

Zambia and Zimbabwe were the two finalists for the 2017 edition and was scheduled to play today to find out who wins the the trophy.

The irresistible Zimbabwe lifted the trophy with a 3-1 victory over the Chipolopolo of Zambia on Sunday.

Zambia started the game on the front foot forcing Zimbabwean goalkeeper Chigova to make crucial saves but it was the Zimbabweans who took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mutizwa capitalised on Chibwa in post for Zambia poor goalkeeping to hand Zimbabwe the lead.

Zambia restored parity in the 39th minute from Mundia but couldn’t push for the win as Zimbabwe took over in the second.

Goals from Chawapiwa in the 57th minute and Mushure in the 67th minute were enough for Zimbabwe to win the 2017 COSAFA Cup.
