Venus Williams has beaten Johanna Konta on Court One to reach the final of the 2017 Wimbledon.
The 37 year old American saw off the Brit 6-4 6-2 to set up a final with 23 year old Garbine Muguruza on Saturday.
Konta who was playing her first Wimbledon semi final could not stand the 37 year old as she failed to become the first British woman in a Wimbledon singles final since 1977.
“I’ve played a lot of finals here”. “One more win will be amazing. It won’t be a given but I’ll give it my all”, Venus Williams said when asked of her upcoming meeting with Muguruza.
Venus Williams is through to her ninth final, winning seven of the previous eighth. She has also become the oldest player to reach a Grand Slam singles’ final since Martina Navratilova in 1994.
A win on Saturday against Muguruza will mean she will become the oldest women’s Grand Slam champion in the Open Era since 1968.
