GPL WEEK 23 REVIEW – ELMINA SHARKS CONTINUE RENAISSANCE AS THEY BEAT ASHGOLD AT OBUASI

Coach Yaw Acheampong and his Elmina Sharks, continued his renaissance when they beat Obuasi Ashantigold  at the Obuasi Le-Clay.

The Miners have seem a fantastic performances in recent weeks but Yaw Achemapong and his charges took a bold step and signed why they want to stay in the premiership.

Ashgold were confident from the start of the game but their confident was short-lived as Eric Osei early silenced the stadium through a spot kick which preceded Ashgold missed penalty.

Elimina Sharks capitalized on poor defense by Ashgold to double their lead through Benjamin Tweneboah. Prince Owusu scored mid-way through the second half but it was not enough to save Ashgold the blushes.

Relegation stare Accra Great Olympics in the face again after their 3-0 humiliating defeat at the Accra sports stadium by Medeama on Sunday.

Olympics are languishing 15th on the league table but hopes of rising above the table was dented as Medeama scored three away from home.

Justice Blay, Bismark Oppong and Latif Salifu were the architects of Olympics fall at the Accra Sports stadium.

Berekum Chelsea also continued their good home performance when they beat lead leaders WAFA 2-1 at the Berekum Golden City Park though the Sogakopke based club had all their stars back from the Black Stars “B” assignment.

Stephen Sarfo scored twice from the spot kick with Richad Danso getting the consolation for the visitors.

Aduana Stars were able to take advantage of WAFA’s slip when they beat Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 at the Agyemang Badu Park.

Two goals from Bright Adjei ensure the Dormaa firemen clinched all three points in the crucial game.

Elsewhere in the Tema derby, Tema Youth affirmed their supremacy over city rivals Inter Allies after beating them 3-1 in the crunch fixture.

Inter Allies scored first through Abdul Nassiru Hamzah on the 39th minute but a goal each from  Francis Adjetey, James Akaminko, Joseph Paintsil was enough to give the Harbor city lads a commanding 3-1 over Prince Owusu’s side.

Wa All Stars recorded a 2-1 win over Liberty professionals at the Malik Jabir Park in Wa. This makes it three losses in series for Michael Osei’s side, therefore pushing them into the relegation zone.

David Abagna Emmanuel Sarpong netted a goal each for the defending champions as they got a vital three points on Sunday.

Matthew Kevin Ando pulled one back for the Dansoman based side.
