The Medical Team of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has assessed the players that was involved in the accident on Wednesday at the Baba Yara stadium on Saturday.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko had an accident on their way back to Kumasi after their matchday 22 Ghana Premier League clash with Inter Allies at the El Wak stadium; a game they lost 1-0. This led to several players sustaining various degrees of injuries and also their assistant equipment officer passing on.

The Head of the Medical team of Kotoko, Dr. Leat who is a Senior Specialist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital told that after thorough examination of the injured players, the players are in pain and will need another week to do further examination on the players and staff to ascertain when they will be ready physically and psychologically to start training and playing games.

Head Coach Steve Pollack and team bus’ driver, Nana Berkye who had surgeries are all responding well to treatment as they seeks to recover from the Wednesday incident.

Kotoko had also given an update on forward Ollenu Ashitey who was the only player that was detained at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further assessment by the medics.

The update that is given by have it that; “Ollenu Ashitey is discharged from the hospital. He was the only player admitted on Thursday for close observation”.

There have been rumours circulating across the media front that a business tycoon has phoned in the Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kwame Kyei promising to get the club a new bus but the Management of the club has debunked that story saying; : “Management has not met any businessman on the purchase of a new team bus. Media reports saying otherwise should be disregarded”.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko had their bus ran into a stationary car at Nkawkaw last week Wednesday after returning from Accra causing a tragic accident.
