Ghanaian international and Black Stars forward, Asamoah Gyan has indicated that he has spent over GH₵ 5million on charity work through his foundation.
The Black Stars captain has set up a foundation called the Asamoah Gyan’s foundation and has engaged in so many philanthropic activities which he says have generated ‘jobs to over 200 Ghanaians’.
Gyan, 31, who has built an ultra modern AstroTurf for his Alma mater, Accra Academy said this when he was commissioning the first phase of the $250,000 project.
In his speech at the commissioning of the project, the New Kayserispor signing said; “Over the past five years, my foundation which is the Asamoah Gyan foundation, has touched the lives of many Ghanaians in many ways as well as undertaking the land project”.
“We have restored the water pumping system in Wenchi; we built the mechanized borehole at Hohoe”, the 31 year said. “We donated equipment to the Korle Bu Teaching hospital and the Ridge Hospital, Mamprobi Polyclinic and Children hospital in Kumasi just to mention a few”.
“Indeed we have supported student through sports as well as giving them scholarship at all level of education and seeing them through the masters program”, the Black Stars captain indicated.
“By the grace of God and with the support of Ghanaians we have spent over GH₵ 5million on charity and social intervention and have employed over 200 people through my company”, he continued.
“We have also produced a world championship champion by name Emmanuel Game boy Tagoe through the Baby Jet Promotions”.
Gyan who holds the record for most goals scored by any Ghanaian at international level (51) after 103 appearances indicated that he ‘may not be the best talent’ but is looking for great talents to be produced from the work done.
“I may not be the best talent ever but this pitch will produce great talents from my hard work and sacrifice for the nation for the future”, the New Kayserispor forward said.
Gyan who was recently honoured with a doctorate degree by a Ukrainian University will join his team for preseason this week.
