A staunch Asante Kotoko supporter, Chairman Jerry who is a Newmont Ghana Contractor has promised to take care of the kids of the Deputy Equipment Officer, Mr. Obeng Asare after his one-week was held yesterday at Esereso-Kumasi.
The wealthy man presented a cash of GH¢12,000 to both the family of the deceased, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the players and staff.
The donation made by Chairman Jerry according to him is his “widows mite to support a club he has adored throughout his life”.
He also called on the Kotoko supporters who have something in their hands to show love to the club in these difficult times. He told reporters;
“The little help that we can offer, we must not relent on that so I personally donated GH¢5,000 to the widow, another GH¢5,000 to the entire team and GH¢2,000 to Amos Frimpong and his players to buy some first aid”, he continued.
“The family was overjoyed upon receipt of the donations and that was awesome to me. Most times, Ghanaian people do not want to give their all to their jobs because when calamity befalls them, they are left to their fate”, the kingpin continued.
“If we support people and our clubs in such difficult times, people will be ready to work wholeheartedly and that is how we show our true support”, he added.
Mr. Obeng Asare died in a tragic incident when Kotoko bus ran into a stationary vehicle at Nkawkaw and Chairman Jerry noted that this will not be his ‘last support’ for the deceased family. He said; “This will not be the last support I will make. I do this will regularly.
“I donate to widows and orphans so I will go to the kids and wife and help them. I call everyone with the capacity to help to come on board so that the wife and children who are in school can pursue to the top”, he reiterated.
“I know the children are in school, and I’m going to adopt them as part of my family to provide for them as my own so as to reduce the pain in their hearts”, he lamented.
