Ghana ex-president, Jerry John Rawlings has indicated that boxer Isaac Dogbe is ‘a hot and strong boxer’ and has predicted that he will follow the footsteps of boxing great, Azumah Nelson.
Dogbe, 25, who easily beat his opponent, Argentine Javier Chacon in Round 7 to defend his WBO international super bantamweight belt is tagged to be greater like the maestro himself.
The former president who left office in 2000 and was at the ringside watching the bout said; “Dogbe is a hot and strong boxer”. “He was obviously the best fighter on the day and I’m glad he won”.
“It will take him a while to reach Azumah’s standard but he has got the potential to be like Azumah Nelson”, the ex-president added.
“Let’s hope and pray that he becomes the great boxer we all expect him to be”, he concluded.
Isaac Dogbe can take on Jesse Magdaleno in his next bout as they will battle out for the WBO World super bantamweight belt.
