The matchweek 24 of the Ghana Premier League continued today across all centres with Elmina Sharks continuing their resurgence to record their fourth win on the spin.
The Elmina based side beat Bechem United 2-1 at the Papa Kwesi Nduom stadium.
Felix Addo put the Sharks ahead beating Bechem United’s shot stopper, Prince Asempa with a low drive before the midfielder added a second to send his side 2-0 up. Bechem United through Sadiq Hadji Abubakar got a goal but was too late to snatch an equaliser as it ended up being a consolation.
The win means Elmina Sharks move to 7th position with 33 points after 24 round of games.
In other games, Tema based side Tema Youth lost to Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports stadium.
Goals from Kwame Kizzito and a fantastic brace from Thomas Abbey with one being a penalty handed the Phobians a 3-1 win over Tema Youth. Tema Youth got the consolation from Joseph Paintsil.
Hearts of Oak who have lost just once at the Accra Sports Stadium with the reverse against AshantiGold and was looking to give the chase to Aduana Stars who occupies the summit of the Ghana Premier League. The win means Hearts of Oak are just five points away from league leaders, Aduana Stars with a game in hand.
AshantiGold SC who were on a resurgence last month has failed to gather the momentum in their last two games in the GPL after Liberty Professionals made it two losses to the Miners with a solitary goal from Ernest Papa Arko in the 72nd minute.
AshGold tried to snatch the equaliser but Liberty stood firm to move to 12th and send the Miners back into the relegation zone.
Ebusua Dwarfs threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with Wa All Stars in a rainy soaked game. Dwarfs went ahead through a stunner from Stephen Bentil before Isaac Kwain scored Dwarfs second via a deflected free kick.
Wa All Stars improved after the two goals deficit and got one through Paul De Vries Asare before grabbing the needed equaliser through Kwaku Asuandzi who applied an expert finish to a sweet flowing move. The draw means both sides remain unchanged on the league table.
WAFA was scheduled to play Asante Kotoko at Sogakope but the game was postponed due to Asante Kotoko not ready to honour the game.
The Porcupine Warriors were involved in an accident after their matchweek 22 game against Inter Allies as their bus ran into a stationary vehicle at Nkawkaw when returning from Accra to Kumasi leading to the death of Mr. Thomas Obeng, the deputy equipment officer of the club.
Earlier on Saturday, Medeama SC played a 0-0 draw with Aduana Stars at the T&A Park as they failed to convert their chances. The draw sends Aduana Stars to the top of the league after 24 games albeit having played two games more on second place, WAFA.
