Chelsea Football Club has sent Brazilian winger Kenedy home from their preseason tour in Singapore following the offensive messages made on Instagram about Chinese.
Chelsea went to China to take on Arsenal at the Nest Bird Stadium in Beijing and ahead of the game, the young Brazilian who was recalled back from loan due to lack of game time at Watford posted on Instagram; comments which was insinuating and offensive about China.
Kenedy, 21, made his case worst when he posted a picture of a security person dozing and wrote comments which were uncalled for.
He was jeered by the Chinese supporters on Saturday as he was introduced in the game. He has since apologised for his actions, while Chelsea have confirmed that the youngster will be disciplined.
He is due to return home and join the team back home due to injuries and lack of match fitness as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
Kenedy later replied with another post asking for forgiveness from the Chinese with parent club Chelsea, doing same.
“I would like to apologise to the people of China for the offence I have caused”.
“It was never my intention to insult or offend anyone at all and I now realise that my comments were totally inappropriate”, Kenedy said.
Everyone at Chelsea Football Club has the utmost respect and admiration for China and loves our Chinese fans. It is because of this that the negative impact we have seen over the last two days has left us shocked and saddened.
Once again, we sincerely apologise for the hurt caused to our Chinese fans as well as to the Chinese people.
