Former Hasaacas midfielder, Kofi Frimpong has blasted ex-Ghanaian international, Rev. Osei Kofi on his continuous attack on Ghana football indicating that he should be grateful to ‘football’.
Frimpong argues that Rev. Osei Kofi had a good career after football due to the football he played and must be appreciative of the sport.
Rev. Osei Kofi has always been saying that he declined at the chance to play for Premier League side, Stoke City because of his love for the country and ready to play for the national team and has always accuse Ghanaian political hierarchy of denying them what was due them when they won the 1963 and 1965 African Cup of Nations.
But Kofi Frimpong have other ideas saying he got a job at the Ghana National Fire Service because of ‘football’ so the ex Kotoko player should be grateful to Ghana football. He told KYZZ FM in Takoradi, Ghana; “Osei Kofi and some old players are rather ungrateful and greedy”.
“They should acknowledge that football gave them advantages others didn’t get at that time”, the ex Hasaacas player continued.
“Former President Kuffour gave all retired national footballers GHC50, 000 through Kwadwo Baah Wiredu. Just a few of them shared the money among themselves”, he added.
“Osei Kofi and the retired footballers who continuously accuse the football association and the state for neglecting must stop doing that and thank God for what football has done for them”, Frimpong reiterated.
