KWESI NYANTAKYI: ‘I DON’T AGREE THAT EUROPEAN FOOTBALL DICTATES FOR US’

CAF first vice president and Ghana Football Association capo Kwesi Nyantakyi has refuted claims that European football ‘dictated’ to CAF’ noting that the African football hierarchy takes decisions on their own.

Kwesi Nyantakyi who also doubles as a FIFA Council member is not in agreement that European football is the brain for the decision but admitted that the Europeans are the most influential in world football.

CAF announced after a two day symposium held in Rabat some changes to the continent’s competitions including the AFCON and many argued that it was pressure from Europe that went into the taking of the decision of which the GFA president have debunked that idea saying;

“I don’t agree with that, where is the dictation, is there any evidence to that? or is just a rumour, the Europeans are part of the international football community”.

“In fact the most influential people in the international football world are the Europeans because they organise the most lucrative leagues in the world and the they attract the best players from Africa and America and so they have a point of view to express”, he added.

The FIFA Council member reiterated; “But it is not binding on us, we have realised this is the best way to go in Africa and we have accepted to go that way, i do not think that, it is just like following Europeans anyhow and just taking what they want to pursue their interest”.

“I think the interest of Africa is the driving and motivating consideration in the choice of this decision”, the GFA capo continued.
