Ex-Ghana Football Association President, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe has attributed the current GFA tension between president Kwesi Nyantakyi and vice George Afriyie to friendly match money.
Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe who was the GFA president till 2005 said the monies that accrued from the US friendly is the cause of the feud.
He told Atinka TV Sports Court Show in an interview that the feud if not resolved amicably will have a dire consequences on the GFA and tarnish the image of the FA.
He added; “It appears to me that the issue that has bedeviled the FA borders on allegation of corruption because the FA boss and his vice Mr. George Afriyie have traded open accusation of greed and counter greed in relation to proceeds from Ghana’s recent friendlies in the US which is quite interesting”.
“Now the problem between them appears to me as personal and one is not obliged to work with a friend or a foe”, he continued.
“Now what exactly has happened, one will ask a question that once a darling boy of Kwesi Nyantakyi should now be his enemy, this is a question I’m posing”, he quizzed.
“For George Afriyie to have that strength to come openly and allege openly that his boss is very greedy, and selfish and wicked; these are serious words to apply to a leader”, he indicated.
“I think it is important that the FA itself sets up a committee. I will prefer that an independent committee of people who really know much about football and football administration and find out exactly what has gone wrong and try to put it right”, he concluded.
The clash between the GFA hierarchy has also seen the Ghana Parliamentary Select Committee set to invite the pair to try and resolve the issue.
