Ghana contingent at the 2017 World Athletics Championship have not been a success so far as three out of the eight have bowed out at the preliminary stage.
Emmanuel Dasor who was to run in the 400m could not participate after suffering a knee injury when training on Friday. This automatically ruled him out of the race which he was to have run in heat 6.
Elsewhere both Alex Amankwaah who was Ghana medal hopeful failed to reach the semis of the Men’s 800m as he finished fourth with a time of 1:47:56s while field athlete Nadia Eke failed to also make it to the semis of the Women’s triple jump as she failed to even beat her personal best of 13.93.
With the trio out, Ghana will only need sprinter Janet Amponsah to be at her best as she takes to race in the 200m heats on Tuesday.
Also, the Women’s 4x100m relay team can put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians as they race on Saturday as Ghana seeks her first medal at the London Athletics.
