RICHARD KINGSON ATTRIBUTES HIS RETIREMENT TO GHANAIANS CRITICISMS

Richard Kingson

Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Richard Kingson has attributed his retirement to Ghanaians criticisms of his age.

Richard Kingson known in the Ghanaian parlance as ‘Olele’ indicated that he was forced to retire prematurely after the African Cup of Nations in 2012.

He told Starr Sports’ Betty Yawson; “It’s like they are now blaming themselves; but I don’t blame them”.

“Sometimes when we [retired players] go and play, some people come and say ‘Richard you are still strong, you can still play for the national team’ but I say no… I’ve stopped, he added.

“Ghanaians don’t look at your performance; they only consider where you come from, your age but age is just a number”, Richard Kingson added.

Richard Kingson is now a goalkeeper’s trainer for the senior national team, the Black Stars headed by Katakyie Dr. James Akwasi Appiah.
