Spanish giants FC Barcelona beat Brazilian club, Chapecoense 5-0 in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Monday.
Chapecoense who lost 19 players when they were involved in a plane clash last year was captained by Alan Ruschel who was one of the three survivors after the clash. The crash happened as Chapecoense were travelling to face Colombian side Atletico Nacional in the final of the Copa Sudamericana.
Goals from Gerard Deulofeu, Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Denis Suarez ensured Barcelona’s first home game since former Athletic Club Bilbao manager, Ernesto Valverde took over as Barcelona’s manager.
The annual invitational game is traditionally where Barcelona unveil their team for the new season to home fans as they play a club with the winner winning the Joan Gamper Trophy.
