Ex Confederation of African Football (CAF) president, Issa Hayatou has slammed CAF president, Ahmad Ahmad over claims Cameroon are not ready to host the 2019 AFCON.
CAF president, Ahmad Ahmad said the country’s infrastructure “wasn’t ready” to host the 2019 AFCON suggesting he may call on other countries to host the tournament.
He added that he alongside the CAF inspection team will visit the host nation Cameroon on August 20-28 to find out their readiness for hosting the tournament.
Hayatou who reign as CAF president ended after the 2017 elections held in March and also a Cameroonian has spewed his anger at the Madagascan in an interview with French radio station RFI saying; “He (Ahmad) has to first come to see before speaking as he did”.
“Cameroon already has five stadiums not to mention the ones which are in the process of being built. Nobody can say that Cameroon has done nothing. We’re ahead of schedule, he indicated.
“We have two years to go, you cannot judge Cameroon’s ability to organise the CAN two years off,” added Hayatou.
