Josep Maria Bartomew, President of FC Barcelona has paid a special visit to the first team ahead of Spanish Super Cup first leg clash with eternal rivals Real Madrid.
The President was accompanied by Director of Professional Sports Albert Soler and the Manager of Football Area Pep Segura for the Catalan club.
The meeting took place in the morning prior to the team’s training session at the Cuitat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
The president congratulated the players for their excellent preseason campaign and for their efforts on the US tour where wins over Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid handed them the International Champions Cup title.
President Bartomeu also thanked the players and staff for their commitment and support during the emotional Joan Gamper Trophy game against Chapecoense.
Finally, the president wished the team all the best for the first official fixture of the 2017/18 season which comes on Sunday against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
Barcelona drew with Real Madrid in a 1-1 scoreline when they met at they last Camp Nou but were able to win 3-2 with a last minute stunner from Leo Messi that silenced the Bernabeau.
The Catalan giants also beat Deportivo Alaves 3-1 in the final of the Copa Del Rey whereas their rivals Real Madrid won the League.
