Barcelona defender Gerrard Pique has indicated his club were ‘inferior’ to Real Madrid for the first time over the two legs in the Spanish Super Cup.
Pique, 30, who is in his ninth season at Barcelona was quick to say he felt very ‘inferior’ to the Los Blancos for the first time.
He told reporters; “We are not in the best moment as a team or a club”.
“This a long process and there is room for improvement, We must stay as close as possible and keep moving forwards”, he added.
Barcelona who was outplayed in midfield and in attack by Real Madrid will be gnashing at their teeth after allowing Neymar leave to PSG for a world record fee.
Barcelona are also seeking to add Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele to their team as indicated by General manager Pep Segura.
He told reporters on Wednesday; “We are discussing their deals but do not know when it will be done”.
“We know we have to strengthen this team and that is what we are doing”, he continued.
“We have to help the team”, he added.
