Manny Pacquiao is set to fight Jeff Horn in a rematch with his promoter saying he is ‘optimistic’ the date for the bout will be announced in the ‘in the next few days’.
Manny Pacquiao who is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing was stunned by former school teacher Jeff Horn in July in a unanimous points decision where more than 51,000 spectators watched the bout.
That sparked several criticism that the scoring was poor and needed to be reviewed which led to a scoring review by the WBO and later endorsed the Australian win.
The WBO stressed its subsequent rescoring was carried out for “transparency” as it did not have the power to reverse the original decision.
Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum told reporters; “Manny’s on board, Horn’s on board”.
He continued;”The parties in Australia are meeting the Queensland government authorities on Saturday and hopefully the meeting goes well”.
On the decision that led to Jeff Horn winning the bout, Pacquiao’s promoter indicated; “I wasn’t outraged. I thought it was very close”.
