Australian Nick Krygios will take on Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the Cincinnati Open men’s final after both won their semi final ties on Saturday.
Krygios saw off Spanish David Ferrer 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-4) to reach the finals and is on course to claim his first title of the year.
He said after the hard-fought game; “He was a nightmare to play, especially because I’m a tall guy and he’s not the tallest guy”.
“In the tie-breaks I served well, but I definitely didn’t bring my best tennis”, Nick Krygios added.
“I’m just really proud that I managed to scrap out the win”, he continued.
Nick Krygios had beaten Rafael Nadal in the quarter finals and saw off another Spanish in the semi final to set up a clash with Grigor Dimitrov who also beat American John Isner 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (12-10).
Dimitrov who reached his first Masters 1000 final said after the game; “It’s a good step”.
“I have been on the tour for quite some time now and I appreciate those moments”, he indicated.
“I’m starting to appreciate them even more”, the Bulgarian was quick to add.
Krygios will take on Dimitrov in the final on Sunday.
The last major Grand Slam which all players will be looking up to, the US Open at Flushing Meadows will start on August 28.
