Hector Cuper, Egyptian National team coach has called up 15 local players to join other 15 foreign players for camping on 24th August, 2017 ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualification matches with Uganda.
Egypt play Uganda in Namboola Stadium on 31st August, 2017 in Kampala and then host the Cranes in Cairo on 5th September.
In order to get the best of squad available for the former African Champions, Coach Hector Cuper has named 15 players to join other 15 foreign based players for the double header ahead of Russia 2018.
The local Pharaohs lost to Morocco last weekend ahead of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) 2018).
Notably missing from the squad are Bassem Morsi, Amr Warda, Walid Soliman, Momen Zakaria, Alexander Jakobsen, Ibrahim Salah and Amr El-Sulaya.
Amr Gamal replaces Amr Warda as Gomaa Sala is rewarded for his hard work at club level football with a National team call up.Gomaa has been in excellent form for Al Ahly recently, scoring seven goals in his club’s last seven domestic games. His club teammates Hossam Ashour and Ahmed El-Sheikh have managed to keep their place in the squad.
Meanwhile Smouha’s Hossam Hassan, Ismaily’s Mohamed Fathi and Mohamed Awaad and Al Ahly’s new signing Ayman Ashraf have been handed a surprise call-ups to the national team after impressing against Morocco in the CHAN qualifiers.
