US OPEN 2017: OTHER RESULTS AS TOMAS BERDYCH EXITS

The US Open day four concluded this morning and there were interesting results to look up to as one of the top seed Tomas Berdych bowed out.

Berdych from Czech Republic lost to Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov in four sets of 3-6 6-1 7-6 (7-5) 6-2.

Dolgopolov will now take on Serb Victor Troicki in the third round after Troicki saw off Italian Stefano Travaglia 7-6 (8-6) 7-5 6-0 in the second round.

Australian Dominic Thiem who is tagged as one of the favourites for the tournament needed four sets to beat American qualifier Taylor FritzĀ 6-4 6-4 4-6 7-5 to reach the next round.

He will now take on French Adrian Mannarino in the next stage.

In other games, French Gael Monfils saw off American Donald Young in five sets of 6-3 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 2-6 7-5 while Argentine Juan Martin del Potro also beat Spaniard Adrian Menendez-Maceiras in straight sets of 6-2 6-3 7-6 (7-3) to set up a clash with Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut who also replicated same set win over Dustin Brown to beat him 6-1 6-3 7-6 (7-3).

Elswhere, Spaniard Feliciano Lopez set up a clash with Rodger Federer after he saw off countryman Fernando Verdasco 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-1.
