The newly appointed coach of Accra Great Olympics, Godwin Attram has confirmed that he has taken over from Tom Strands who resigned recently.
Godwin Attram was handling the team as a coach and then as a player at the same time but had to relinquish his position to Tom Strands.
Speaking to Boss FM on Tuesday, he explained that “I have no problem whatsoever with Tom Strands and so have nothing to do with the departure of the white coach’.
.Asked what he can do to save the current situation of Olympics in the Ghana Premier League, the former captain of the teams said” If Olympics will go on relegation, there is nothing one can do if they will not go, there is nothing one can do to change it, it all depends on God”.
“I have told the players that their career is at stake here, they should just do their best to save them by winning the rest of the three matches left and then look up to God for favour, that is all I can say on our status now”. Attram explained.
Attram continued “I am ready to do the job, but, the players must be committed to help the team move forward and that is very important in football”.
He went on to also confirm that there are internal politics in Olympics and that has been there for a long time, “before I came back into the team, this thing was already in there and affecting the team, it is no news because other old players like Richard Kingston and Dan Quaye are all aware”.
He charged the supporters to put all the politics aside and come on board top support the team to win, “the team belongs to the supporters and they must know that”, Attram concluded.
It is on record that he vehemently opposed the signing of Tom Strands to take over the team from him as the coach and therefore other quarters suspect he is the reason why Tom Strands resigned.
But the former coach has also denied such allegations but attributed his departure to the poor performance of the players.
