Media reports in Uganda indicate that long-serving midfielder Tonny Mawejje is tipped to return for national team duty.
According to Kawowo Sports, Mawejje is among the players set to be named by head coach Moses Basena as the team is preparing to regroup for training ahead of the clash against Ghana next month.
The Cranes will face off against Ghana in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Mawejje is currently on the books of Albanian outfit KF Tirana and has has been out of the national team since the 2017 CAF African Cup of Nations in Gabon when he made a second half appearance against Mali.
Mawejje’s recent club form, coupled with his vast experience, is crucial for the team at a time when Khalid Aucho is suspended.
On the other hand, Simba Sports Club defender Murushid Jjuuko is also suspended for the match after accumulating cautions from earlier matches.
Uganda are hoping to qualify for their first ever World Cup but their dream would only be realized if they can win their remaining two matches but only if Egypt drop points against either Congo or Ghana.
