His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has stated that Ghana football is not retrogressing contrary to recent calls being peddled around by some of the section of the media and football people.
The first gentleman of the State made this comment when the victorious WAFU Champions Black Stars ‘B’ paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House.
The Tournament was played in Cape Coast and Ghana beat Nigeria 4-1 in the finals played on Sunday. Ghana successfully defended the trophy they won in Kumasi four years ago.
Nana Addo explained thus “a country that has produced players such as James Adjei, Baba Yara, Osei Lodi, Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah and Asamoah Gyan cannot have its football declining”.
The president also added that “the win of the Black Stars ‘B’ in the just ended WAFU tournament is a firm confirmation that the country’s football is still alive”.
“The current team B has a very bright future and many more trophies ahead of them”, President Akuffo Addo continued”.
Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo announced a package of US$100,000 to the Black Stars ‘B’. The team also got a prize money of US$100,000 for winning the trophy.
