Spanish giant Atletico Madrid have officially announced the signing of Diego Costa.
They have agreed terms with Costa’s former side Chelsea whom the Brazilian striker had decided not to play for.
The deal is agreed in principle with a fee of 55 million Euros with ten in variables,although the formula used in the operation is not a transfer to use. It is a transfer until the end of the season with a mandatory purchase option for Atletico at the end of the course.
The Spanish striker will then sign with Atletico for three more years which would end end in 2021. He will wear shirt number 18 as confirmed by his new club.
He is due to appear at the newly built Wanda Metroplitano on Wednesday when Atletico hosts Chelsea in a UEFA Champions League group game. He has already made his first appearance on Saturday when the Rojiblancos beat Seville FC 2-0 at the stadium.
Diego Costa refused to return to his Stamford Bridge home after his brawl Head Coach Antonio Conte who is confirmed to have sent a text message to the striker telling him he is not part of his plans anymore.
“I am very happy to return to my home, I have always said, Atletico is my home, I am very very very happy,” he said on the club’s website, adding that “I have a lot of desire to start contributing. I’m going to give it all for the team, as I always try to do. ”

Costa has not trained since June and so would begin a special training session at the Majadahonda training grounds to prepare for his new appearance as he cannot play now due to the transfer ban imposed on his new side. The ban would expire in January.
