Accra Hearts of Oak qualified for the finals of Ghana’s knockout competition, MTN FA for the first time in seventeen years.
The Phobians beat Wa All Stars 2-1 to qualify for the final in a semi final match played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday at 3:00 pm.
The Glorious Club of Ghana Football got their two goals from their WAFU Cup winning duo Patrick Razak and Kwame Kizito to secure their place in the final, which will be hosted at the Tamale Sports Stadium on October 29.
Hearts buoyed their vociferous fans, started on the front foot as they attacked All Stars with verve and purpose.But had to wait till the 31st minute to get a deserved lead courtesy Patrick Razak who converted after outwitting his marker with pace.
Malik Akowuah failed to nail the Wa based team in the 36th minute when he was set up by Razak who was on fire on the afternoon.
Wa All Stars also had their brightest chance to go on level but Hafiz Adams chose to shoot wide over the post.
In the second half, the rejuvenated Upper West Blues continued to press Hearts for the equalizer but failed to create any clear cut chance as the Phobians book a place in the final.
Hearts Of Oak will aim to lift the cup that has eluded them since 2000 when they defeated Okwahu United 2-0 in the final.
Hearts will play Kumasi Asante Kotoko or Medeama who were playing whilst filing this report.
